Rowan’s Room Academy is a full academic program that follows the learning outcomes of the Nova Scotia provincial curriculum. However, we do so using a combination of approaches such as, student-led, inquiry based, and other differentiated instruction methods to ensure both the delivery and learning experiences of each student is individualized to best support their needs.
This can mean using student interests to guide learning, KWL ( know, want to know and learned), about a subject. If a student becomes particularly interested in a subject and wants to investigate it further we nurture and support that.
If a student is adverse to a topic, we do our best to cover it using methods of instruction that those students enjoy. One student may love videos and will watch videos on just about any topic but sometimes is not able tolerate traditional teaching of that material. We adapt our methods to meet the children where they are. In order to do this we teach the students how they, the students, learn best. We are able to provide flexible instructional delivery, small classes and plenty of one to one time, and an adaptable environment so we are better able to shift direction when needed.
Our program supports inclusion by transitioning students back, whenever possible, to the public system at a point when they will thrive and succeed.

Offering grades Primary to 9, we support individual learning with plenty of one on one and small group sizes.
